Joseph William Collier (Sr.)

JOSEPH WILLIAM COLLIER, son of Benjamin C. Collier And Margaret Lane, was born December 11, 1814 in Twiggs Co., Ga. He was first married on May 29 1834 in Early Co., Ga to DORCAS PEARSON. She must have died in Georgia, for he was married, a second time on May 30, 1839 in Early Co. to HARRIETT JANE STEWART. Harriet was the daughter of JOHN STEWART and LUCRETIA WYNN and was born March 14, 1823 in Ga and died on April 28, 1875 in Tyler Co., Texas. Joseph and Harriett are both buried in Beech Creek Cemetery in Tyler County, Texas.

1. (M)	JOSEPH WILLIAM COLLIER (JR.): born April 6, 1836 in Early Co., Ga. He was first married on March 4, 1858 to ISABELLA ELIZABETH HOOKS, daughter of JAMES T. HOOKS and REBECCA SHEFFIELD. Joseph was married again, on October 22, 1868 to MANERVA WHITTAKER, daughter of SAMUEL H. WHITTAKER and CYNTHIA WEST. ISSUE: (1/m) EMILEY A. COLLIER and (2/m) JAMES BENJAMIN COLLIER.

2. (F)	ELIZABETH JACKSON COLLIER was born about 1848 in Early Co.Ga and died on September 22, 1853. She was buried near her home and is said to be the first person buried in what was to become the Beech Creek Cemetery in Tyler Co., Tx. ISSUE: (Never Married - No Issue)
3. (M)	JOHN BENJMIN COLLIER, born March 24, 1851 in Early Co. Ga. He is said to have first married EUGENIA C. FERGUSON. He may have been married, a second time to MRS. C. M. EDDINGTON. KNOWN ISSUE: (1/m) VIOLA ("Ola"); (one or two infants); BRUCE BENJAMIN; ALTA; THORPE C.; MAUD R./V.; HARRIETT; JOSEPH BURTON; LELA WAITDALE; ?WALLACE; RUBY; (2/m) JESSIE MAE; CORDELL "EDNA COLLIER.
4. (F)	LAURA LENORA ("Nora") COLLIER, born 1854 in Tyler Co., Tx. She was married on June 20, 1872 to WILLIAM "THOMAS" COWART. KNOWN ISSUE: NANCY; JOSEPH C.; CLARA D.; and ELLA JANE COWART.
5. (F)	LOUVENIA JANE COLLIER, born in 1857. She was married on June 20, 1872 in Tyler Co., Tx to GEORGE WASHINGTON COWART. KNOWN ISSUE: JANE; DONIE E.; MINNIE or ANNIE LEONA; AURELIA J. and MARY J. COWART.
6. (M)	T. S. COLLIER, ?male listed on 1860 census of Tyler Co., Tx ISSUE: (No other information)
7. (F)	ADELIA COLLIER, born ca 1862 in Tyler Co. Tx. She was married on March 20, 1904 to WILLIAM ARMSTRONG. ISSUE: LILLIE who married W. ISAAC SPEARS.
