WALL
Everyone enjoys getting a "pat on the back" every once in a while and it usually makes one strive for more. I'm human and no exception. My first one, via the Internet, let me know that I had learned enough to create something that at least someone else, besides me, thought was worth a little pat. Kinda made me feel like I did when I received a blue ribbon for the cookie jar I made in junior high art class. Maybe someday I'll create even better pages and even if I don't get an "outside" award I hope I can stand back, take a look, and say "Well, that's a little better" or "I think that might really interest or help someone".
Then I, also, have to give credit, where credit is due. I didn't create all the lovely backgrounds, pictures, buttons, midi files, etc. on the pages I've put together. Someone with much more talent than I have, or ever hope for, worked very hard to produce these things that make the sites we visit interesting. Some of the things I've gathered (especially when I first started on the Net) I have no idea where I got them. I can't give the creators credit here, but I thank you all. If I have included any your unknown copyrighted material, I apologize. If I used it and you don't mind, or if you will bring it to my attention I will gladly remove it or would love to provide a credit link.
MY AWARDS
My First Award was very special to me. It was from the TxGenWeb Project. I was the third recipient of the "County of the Week" Award for the State of Texas by Mike Basham. It was for my county page for San Augustine County, Texas. Since that time, I myself, have seen many of the other Texas Counties go on to produce sites that I consider far better than that one and would hate to have the job of picking the best ones now.
After Mike passed away, the above became the "Mike Basham TexasGenWeb County of the Month Award".
Well, much to my surprise, upon returning home from the deer camp on November 19, 1997, I received an email informing me that I had received another award. This one is "Sam's Spectacular Genealogy Homepage Award." I am truly honored to be among great winners.
