GUEST LOG

I would like to personally thank everyone who has not only taken the time to drop in for a visit here at my little Home on the Web, but then to let me know what you thought about it. You have inspired me to keep trying to make it both a place where I can share some of my "loves" and be entertaining at the same time. You have become "The Wind Beneath My Wings"!! I invite you to link it, borrow ideas from it, put it on your favorite rounds, tell others and if you enjoyed it come back often .

I am posting your E-Mail comments below so everyone can enjoy your comments as much as I have. As soon as I can get the Real Guest Book with auto-posting to work right I will move this to a separate page for future reference. Thanks Again from the bottom of my heart.

I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed looking, reading and listening to your web site. If you aren't an author you should be. I don't have any ancestors in your area, darn, wish I did. The only family I have in Tx are my husband's and they were in Wise co. Oh I had some great uncles come to Tx. but they settled in Sherman and that area. Will certainly go back and visit you again though, cause I LOVED it.

Hi Cousin Barbara,
What a wonderful job you have done with this Web Site!! I just finished reading your Ant. Chart and indeed we do share some relatives up the line with Elbert Hines and Mahana Melton, especially. Do keep up the good work...you have a magic pen (or is it "computer keyboard"? Anyway, Lady, you have a rare talent which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Hi, Barbara!
I accepted your invitation. Nice page. I'm glad to see there are still people out there who have a sense of humor and don't take themselves too terribly seriously!
Take Care and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Yea Barbara!!!
I live in Lufkin and have been searching all over East Texas for ancestral information. Sure am glad to see these new websites come along. Maybe we can all become more efficient through this medium than we have with the auto trips and snail mail. Haven't even looked yet, but I'm excited.

Hi Barb,
First time to visit your pages enjoyed the way you put everything together. I wish my pages will look as good as yours. Found some of the same surnames in your family that I am tracing but for some reason mine didn't follow your path. But on your McClure line I have the address's of several researchers working Virginia. My line somehow missed that state.
Take Care, Jon

Dear RootsLady,
I read each of your pages. I think that the highest compliment that I can give you is; "I wish you lived next door!". You would brighten my day!
[snip] Best of luck, don't change A BIT of your writing style (the Texas-style makes me feel at home), and keep on drinking that coffee and smoking those cigarettes, because something is working right!

Saw your "Intro to GenWeb" story --- great! :) :) :) :)
I think you should be designated USGenWeb's official cheerleader/morale officer - we've needed it lately with the copyright issues etc.
Great job - I'm still tinkering with my pages....Tracey Morris

Barbara,
Visited your homepage (front porch) and loved it. I'm involved in Gen Web for Indiana & it has been a great experience - a way to satisfy both my addictions (computers & genealogy) and help people too. My counties are Clinton & Tippecanoe, IN. Visit me sometime.

Hi Barbara:
Just read your "My Start on the Web" (really great!) and visited your Home on the Web (WOW!). For being a NEWBIE, you're doing a great job! If I can be of any help, don't hesitate to email me at jimw4106@aol.com. I'll be back to visit, can't wait to see where you're going with this. By the way, we both graduated high school the same year. Hope you'll surf on over to VAGenWeb and visit.

P.S. Really liked your Obit page! Mind if I borrow your idea? Feel free to 'borrow' anything from my pages when you visit.

I have had several E-Mails from people all over the country who have enjoyed your page on your GenWeb experience. You are rapidly becoming famous. It's nice for me to finally know someone famous.

Hi Barbara,
Mike Basham shared your URL on county hosts experiences with all of us at USGenWeb. It was very heart- warming! As the state coordinator of the VAGenWeb, I've seen "newbies" join up, taking one county, then getting so addicted, they end up adopting more counties. <g> Some of them didn't know how to spell html before! :) You share my enthusiasm about what the Internet can do for genealogy. Have you seen the USGenWeb Archives? We are storing transcribed primary source documents for free access.

This project sprang up from a message I sent to ROOTS-L, "time to DO something!" Texas is leading all the states on total information available.. because
land grants for ALL the counties has been uploaded there. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

What a marvelous page... notes on the frig... fences being mended... outhouses being repaired...
I don't have anyone in her counties... what a pity...
GREAT JOB BARBARA...

If reading this article doesn't make a genealogist and especially a county volunteer sit back and laugh, relax and smile for the day - I don't know what will...
Thanx for sharing...

Barbara,
Your are a celebrity.

(Note: I don't know whether to hug or curse Vance. If he hadn't "bounced" a message to Mike Basham when my E-Mail wouldn't work, I might not even be a County Coordinator!! BYD)

From: John C. Rigdon  Fri, Nov 8, 1996 Subject: Loved!!! your page
After Mike announced your page, I visited this morning and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Now I find we're probably cousins of some kind. My Aunt Lucy (Rigdon) married Ernest Yancey in Valdosta, GA. Uncle Ernest has always talked about the more ambitious side of the family who lit out for Texas "'bout a hunnerd year 'go."

Dear Rootslady Barbara,
As a fellow native Texan who shares your compunctions for abuse of web, smokes & coffee, and who is thoroughly and uncurably addicted to the art of genealogy (though I only started a couple months ago), I have one, and only one thing (so far) to say about your web site, and that, dear lady, is: FAN-DAMN-TASTIC!
With Bestest Regards,

Hello fellow GenWeb sponsor....I am the Fannin county sponsor & after reading Mike's glowing review of your - well - er - one of your pages, I had to check it out...I was tickled...That's a right cute story, much parallel to mine except I've been on the net about as long as I've been rootin' about a year...My paternal roots are in Angelina & Liberty counties & maternal are mostly in Grayson, Fannin & Dallas.... So I have a deep love for eastern Tejas....Drop by my site sometime if you have a chance....To get to the Fannin County GenWeb site, substitute fannin for haden below....and take care....

Gee, you and I have the SAME addictions and the SAME loves. I love your page and you have a wonderful sense of humor. I have another--I love to play dress up--costumes. More fun! We started with computers about the same time, got on the net about the same time. (Everything was long distance for me till then) I have four counties on the Texas GenWeb project. And have my little home page up too. Not anything like yours but have a look anyway. http://www.wf.net/~wirby/index.htm
Are't we having FUN!!!!
