| G.G.G.G. Granddaughter of Joel Yancey 1774 - 1833. Am currently seeking
information on any living relatives of Richard Bland Yancey and Lola Easter Tinker Yancey.
My mother found a huge oval wedding photo in my grandmother's attic. Also found a large
photo of Richard Bland Yancey and his brother Thomas DeWitt Talmadge Yancey a.k.a.
"Uncle Tam". She would very much like to give these photos to a child/grandchild
who will love and appreciate them. Please contact for further info. Dennis and Barbara,
thanks for the wonderful sites that have helped so very many of the "Yancey

where my father has lived since 1952, then as we children have gathered back here, now
there are four famlies close by. A John Newton Yancy(Bartow Co.Georgia)census,1900,822nd
district -Twelfth Census of the U.S. wife Caroline, children ,Barbara A.,Alvin,Harvey,
Bessie, Rosa,Color or Race is not clear for John,Caroline and children listed as
white(?).On James Alley Yancy's death cert. his mother is listed a Mary Elizabeth Turner
,(an aunt told me grandmother went by Caroline. Turner is a surname with
"Indian" connections in that territory and time period, now does anyone have a
link of the Yancy name to the native people not just to the Welsh? It could be a very
interesting path for the Yancy linage, since Younce is connected to the Cherokee. Happy

found your site by looking up info about Louisa,Va.I graduated from the HS there, grew up
in Mineral & Orchard,Va. Grandparents raised me - Charles & Barbara Yancey they
are deceased but still have family living on one of the homeplaces. People always asked
where my last name came from now I an a little more enlighten. You have done a terrific
job. Keep up the good work. I surely will keep in touch because I am attempting to do a
family tree and it is hard. If I can help with the info that I have from those tales my
grandparents told me let me know and I will and if I cannolt answer I will contact family
and close friends down in Richmond,Gum Springs, Mineral, Orchard. I am so excited. I
printed the Yancey history out to show my children. Perhaps I am related to some Yancey
out there besides the ones I know of. |

After my father died in 1995 I realized that I knew nothing of the Yancey family. Upon

County Georgia. The family says her husbands name is Charles but we have not found him in
any census records. He is also said to have been in the civil war and held as a prisoner
and died of complications of his imprisonment. Catherine had children John 18, Robert 16,
Susan 14, Tolliver 12, Evaline 4. These people were also found in later census records. If

very interesting. Because of the names, I have been to Yancey Mills, Virginia (near Free
Union, if you're looking for it on a map) and Yanceyville, North Carolina. I have found
that all roads lead to Virginia (Albemarle county) in almost all branches of my family
tree. I appreciate especially all the work Dennis Yancey has done. I can only hope that
maybe I can find some information that might be useful for other's research. py |

YANCEY-L. I was impressed with your YANCEY History & have been inspired to get
involved in YANCEY research! We have so little information that I have been working on
other lines! My YANCEY connection is far back - Mary YANCEY married Samuel SAXON, Sr
possibly in Halifax, NC (he died there in 1766) Their son, Samuel, Jr married Elizabeth
DAVIS & their daughter, Charity married William GAMAGE in Orange Co, NC. The YANCEY
name has continued in the family as a middle name for several family members thru the
years. My gr-grandfather was Davis Yancey GAMMAGE, who came to Panola Co, TX from
Covington Co, AL after the Civil War. Your diligent work on the YANCEY family is qreatly
appreciated. "Cousin" Peg I will add a Query for Mary YANCEY's parents. |

| Yes I to am a Yancey. And proud of it too. All my life I've been told that
there were 3 brothers that came to America from Wales on the Mayflower. Also there is a
Yancey in history books noted as a Governor of Alabama and one of the major fighters for
slavery. My family is direct descendants from him. His name was Robert Yancey. My
immediate family is from Arkansas and my grandfathers name was Robert Yancey as well.

| Hi, Dennis & Barbara, I was truly amzed to see a Yancey website. I
found your site by looking up info about Louisa,Va.I graduated from the HS there, grew up
in Mineral & Orchard,Va.

Upon
receiving several boxes of his things I discovered ancestory charts for my line all the
way back to Lewis Davis Yancey. After that discovery I began my own research. Now that I
live in VA I plan on visiting Culpeper and several other Yancey locations. I would like to

Susan 14, Tolliver 12, Evaline 4. These people were also found in later census records. If

Yancey?) cousins have already done. I am a beginner in the area of geneaology and find it
very interesting.
I can only hope that
maybe I can find some information that might be useful for other's research. py |

so much of it. I knew you had a lot but was overwhelmed by the quanity. When I go to SLC

available format. No wonder you didn't want to write a book. It would break the table with

luck! I'll send you any new Yancey info I discover. Bye, Joan |
