My YANCEY information starts with my 4th g-grandfather, John YANCEY, who married
Elizabeth CRAVEY. I don't have dates on either of them. His son David, one of ten
children, was my 3rd g-grandfather and he fought in the War Between the States. He married
Sarah CAMPBELL, b.1837, d.1901, and they had five children, all born in Dodge County,
Georgia. I don't have dates on David. His son, my 2nd -grandfather, Absolom Johnson (Dock)
YANCEY, was born March 20, 1877 and married Mamie WALKER, b. 8/1/1886, d. 2/5/1962. Dock
and Mamie owned one of the first two banks in Rhine, GA. Their daughter and first born,
Sarah Elizabeth YANCEY, was my greatgrandmother. We called her "Bubba". She was
a darling. Her dates are b. 4/25/1903, d. 3/1/1980. She had 8 siblings, 2 are still living
and reside in Jacksonville, Florida. I would like to add that 90% of the Yancey
information I have is from a published family history by the Campbell Family Library
Association called Descendants of Daniel Campbell, 1795-1882. I am interested in
researching beyond John Yancey. Thanks!
